Saotome Ranma and his father, Genma, fell into cursed springs during a journey to China. As a result, whenever Ranma comes into contact with cold water, he turns into a girl; when the same thing happens to Genma, he becomes a panda. Wheneven that happens, they stay in their alternative form until the process is reversed by hot water. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Ranma has a bigger problem to deal with: his father and Tendou Souun decide to marry Ranma to the youngest daughter of the Tendou household, Akane, so that the two can eventually take over her family’s dojo. Meanwhile, the youngsters are less than thrilled about this forced engagement…

The martial arts students Saotome Ranma and Tendou Akane are to marry each other. This was decided by their fathers, and was pretty much against their will. To make matters worse, after martial arts training at the Magical Springs in China, Ranma’s father Genma is cursed to change into a panda and Ranma is cursed to change into a beautiful buxom female whenever doused in cold water. Luckily, hot water reverses the effects.
And so Ranma continues his quest to end his curse and to finally be rid of the the involuntary transformations he has had to endure. The advances of the many women (and men) in his (her) entourage certainly do not make things easier. Tiptoeing through such an emotional minefield will take all of Ranma’s wit and martial arts skills…

A Phoenix hatches on Kunou’s head, and allows him to defeat Ranma. In order to make the Phoenix leave, growth pills must be fed to it. The Phoenix grows to immense size, all the while staying perched on Kunou’s head, and then flies through Tokyo wrecking buildings and everything else that gets in its way. It takes the combined effort of Ranma, Akane, Ryouga, Shampoo and Ukyou to finally force the bird to leave Kunou’s head and fly away.
Based on a manga story featured in volume 29.

Happousai is up to no good again, stealing underwear from the girl’s changing room at school. But Ranma transforms using his feminine side to capture the culprit, thereby exposing himself way too much for Akane’s taste.
The old man will not take this defeat lightly though, and vows terrible revenge on Ranma, by brewing up the fearsome Deep Sleep Incense — one whiff and one will not wake up until the end of Spring. By accident, not Ranma but Akane is hit by the incense at the Anything Goes Martial Arts Tendo Dojo. Strangely, the sleeping Akane automatically violently defends herself from any touch or form of attack, and even starts to act out her dreams.
Ranma’s natural sense of preservation makes him desperately want to look for a means of curing Akane…
Based on the manga story Nightmare! Incense of Spring Sleep from Ranma ½ volume 34.
Note: Twelve years after the final OVA was shown, and the end of the manga, a new piece of Ranma ½ animation was made for the It’s a Rumic World exhibition of Takahashi Rumiko’s artwork in Tokyo. Shown on odd numbered days from July 30th to August 11th together with two other specials for Urusei Yatsura and Inuyasha.
