Kekkai Sensen | Episode 11 | 720p | 10bit [HS]

  • A breach between Earth and the netherworlds has opened up over the city of New York, trapping New Yorkers and creatures from other dimensions in an impenetrable bubble. They’ve lived together for years, in a world of crazy crime sci-fi sensibilities. Now someone is threatening to sever the bubble, and a group of stylish superhumans is working to keep it from happening.

      Hey.

Top two are your Funi encodes, and bottom two are Deadfish reencodes ( in MadVR). See what I meant about missing details? In particular, statue at top right and pillars in the background, center left.

I got these from HorribleSubs. I specifically get Kekkai Sensen from HorribleSubs, I’ll be patching with Vivid tonight, granted I have the time.

      • It would be better if you could get original Funi screenshot in there as well for comparison.
I am not sure if deadfish use any filters while re-encoding. As we dont use any! Also they encode at a higher bitrate.

Seems to be grains and the noise caused from not retaining them. Though this re-encode is taken from HS which may have a lower quality encode than vivid.

        • Sycophant

It’s not HS’ fault – they do Crunchyroll rips just fine. The fact is, all Funimation releases have these kind of problems (heavy noise, banding issues and ringing that nothing can get rid of etc), which is why nobody uses them.

I’ll be replacing them with Vivid’s releases within 24 – 48 hours. Depending on how fast I can churn them out. I did notice a difference between the first few I watched and the last few. Something did seem off, but I thought it was my encodes that were bad, so I redid them a few times, guess it wasn’t me in the end. I’ll replace with Vivid. Another group added to my list of sources.
