A Farewell to a Feature…

Hey GXS Fans!

I come bearing bad news! It appears we’ve been targeted by a bot that hits us with DMCA Complaints in regards to content on the website. Since these requests are going to fOOt, our glorious leader, we’ve decided that we will be removing all DDL Links. Torrents will remain, and we will look at other options, such as XDCC or something of that sort.

Post in the comments, let us know what you’re thinking. The more feedback we have, the better we can decide on what to do!

Cheers,
DreadStarX

About the Author

is tired and pissed off. I use the fastest releases for one simple reason. I don't have a ton of time with my work schedule. I work 36 Hours one week, 48 hours the next. I work 12s, so Wednesday - Sunday is what I work. July 23rd, I go back to days. Which means I'll release a little bit faster, and have time for other subs. Be patient, please. I don't want to drop anymore shows.

  • FirstLord

    I would suggest XDCC actually.

DDL these days could be much more easier to be target.

    • DreadStarX

Yeah. That’s the problem. We’ve been hit with a bot that’s coming after the DDL links. I’m looking into XDCC, but I’m not a fan of IRC. It’s the most widely used tool for CnC / BotNets. Last thing I need is my server being hit with an attack.

  • Slaiver

    crap! D:
i can’t imagine download without direct link anymore :'(

  • bob

    Some ideas from me:
    1. Hide the DDL behind a captcha that keeps the bot out
    2. Enable registration and show DDL to members only
    3. Use a WP plugin like “End to End” to encrypt DDL links
    4. Put DDL on a pastebin and show only the pastebin id (no link)

  • Shane RK Sahadeo

Nooo. I can’t imagine how it’d be without the DDL :'(
Is it possible to use what the person bob said below?
The last one seems like a good call, iv’e used pastebin several times & it works pretty well. The Captcha is good as well. Just hope there’s a possible workaround.

Since my ISP has blocked torrents. DDL is my only hope.

    • GKS

you can use xdcc to download!

  • GKS

    XDCC is fine with me!!!

  • DreadStarX

I’ve started looking into XDCC, and we will most likely go with that as well. As for DDLs, I’m looking into options for this.

  • kinky

I don’t even know how to get back on IRC (doesn’t one need that for XDCC?), so I’d go for bob’s suggestion, if viable.

    • kinky

Another website from where I download all the movies and TV shows I watch uses spaste.com through ouo.press, both requiring captcha to get to the final link, and they’re quite popular, have been around for a while without any complaints whatsoever (at least they haven’t made public any legal complaints). So maybe you could try something like that?

    • kinky

I forgot to add: I only use torrents, anyway, so I’m fine as it is.

  • SKite Lucas

I’ve been using torrents from a long time now, so it’s not a big deal to me. BUT, DDL are always welcome .__. I don’t know, whatever is better for the page it’s good for me.

  • joker

you can use an uploader from another country whom hasn’t DMCA problem or uploader whom codding files automatic like uptobox you should make a password to itch file too and make user name and password to every user so no stranger can’t make problem.
in other words secure the site

    • DreadStarX

It doesn’t matter, they’ll hit our host with bullshit claims. I recently went through this same matter with Gravity, creators of Ragnarok Online, and Ragnarok Online 2. I was hosting their installation files on my seedbox, and gave access via a torrent + DDL Links. They sent me several nasty emails, and I received a court order to remove the content from my boxes. How they found me, I don’t know. I didn’t use anything tied to my name, i.e. domain registrations, etc.. Even my Seedbox host asked me to remove the content.

  • Jack

It’s too bad. I almost always used DDLs. Sad to see you guys going through this headache. 🙁

    • DreadStarX

      We’ll figure out a way.

      • 84T

Well search engines constantly scanning sites JAPAN has been very strict in terms of anything that comes out of their country (be it TV shows, big screen, music, etc) … so as long as there is a copyrighted material listed on your sites you may be potentially flagged. It won’t matter what mode of transfer you choose… That is the reason why a lot of jpop sharing sites and trackers went down …

        • DreadStarX

Over my dead body. Japan has no authority over us. Our servers are hosted in countries where it takes a court ruling to get things taken offline. We’re careful, but we’ve been complying with their requests.

          • 84T

DreadStarX . Keeping fingers crossed .. Personally, I’m after P-GXS’ well being

  • DreadStarX

How do you guys feel about a client you could download torrent files, and ddl’s through?

  • White-Len

I don’t mind, torrent is always the way to go for me.

  • Hayson

I prefer ddl because the torrents for older series are slower. But Idk, anyone else feel like they watch too much anime anyways? I might actually get something productive done if I have to wait.

  • Phoenix

Torrents were very slow for me,but what can be done?!¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Henk

Using both torrents and DDL’s. Torrents are only good during a short period. Afterwards, it’s a bit useless. No one will seed.

I never use XDCC. Dunno what it is and how it works.

    • DreadStarX

XDCC use IRC to download things. As for torrents, we actually use SeedBoxes, and we leave our series up indefinitely. The only time we remove them, is if we get a Bluray release posted, the TV Batch comes down. It’s available upon request.

      • Henk

Thnx for reply and clearing things up. It’ll prolly take some time for me to understand and use XDCC… I

  • Gabriel Solanilla

I always use torrents but conosco the advantages of ddI to me is not a problem but should not have them fix the problem with the seed for example these 4 series are in my utorrent without finding seed
    Sakurasu no pet na kanojo
    Kanon
    Subete F ga ni naru
    Shinmai maou no testament

He also added that the comment bob seems to me the most successful

Greetings and thanks for the good work: “3

    • DreadStarX

Strange. We had a major server failure a few weeks ago, not all torrents have been fixed. We’re sorting things out on what we’ll be doing with the site.

  • 84T

i wouldn’t count on Torrents, lots of torrent networks going down… recently Kat, TorCache…. no assurance that these will stay long

    • DreadStarX

Well… I’ve got an idea on how to make torrents better, and harder to kill. Soon as I get some free time from Project-GXS, I’m going to start working on it. I’ve got an idea on how to make links not appear in search engines, and I’ll be setting up Project-GXS to not show up in Google Searches.

      • 84T

        Thumbs up

  • 84T

same thing for IRC too… remember how DALNET became so toxic… People just left and moved to lesser know and less reliable servers…

    • DreadStarX

Well… I’ve got things that’ll help in the works. I just need to work on the End to End Encryption for it, I haven’t thought about how to do the login handshakes, if it’ll be a triple handshake or something a little more intense.

      • 84T

Good, looking forward to it… I’ve been a longtime MIRC user …

  • DreadStarX

Ok. I’ve added a Trial of the DDL Continuation by using PasteBin. We will see how well this works, I will continue working on XDCC, new DDL Download section, which will also serve as our archive section. I will also work on a new client for those needing to use DDLs. This won’t be completed any time soon, so bear with us.

The next step is using a document you download for links.

  • yoomi

I’d always prefer DDL since as many here mentioned re. reliability and internet speeds, etc.

Dunno if this’ll help but I’ve actually downloaded from another encoding site thru this cloud server(? not sure what to call it): cloud.mail.ru <– it seems from russia. Works like mega.nz, so I guess it's a good direct download alternative.

More importantly, thank you so much for the hard work you put in here! 😀
